We at the ABSApro Bike Shows work hard and strive to have the best BMX bike shows in the U.S. and to keep the competition as fair as possible. We have in place rules, regulations, and a Code of Conduct to not only keep the competition fair but also so everyone has a good time. These events were established so individuals can share the love of the sport and show their works of art in a competition style with family and friends.
1) We suggest using a Pre-registration system: As an example, Pre-Registration entry fees would be, $50.00 for the first four bikes, if the contestant wishes to enter more than four bikes in the show, each bike thereafter will be $10.00 per bike, so if a contestant wishes to enter four bikes the fee will be $50.00, five bikes $60.00 and so on.
Day of the show registration: As an example, Day of the show registration is $55.00 for the first four bikes, if the contestant wishes to enter more than four bikes in the show, each bike thereafter will be $15.00 per bike, so if a contestant wishes to enter four bikes the day of the show, the fee will be $55.00, five bikes $65.00 and so on, there is no limit on how many bikes the contestant may enter as long as the bikes are all from the same contestant. For example, if a contestant enters three bikes and wants to enter a fourth for a friend so the friend does not have to pay the initial entry fee this will not be accepted. Any contestant caught doing this will be disqualified and not allowed to enter the show that day.
A New ABSApro Member that purchases a membership at the show will pay a $75.00 ABSApro Membership fee with one (1) free ABSA Registered bike in addition to whatever show registration fee the promoter charges. Using the above Day of show example, there would be an additional $75.00 collected on top of the $55.00 for Show registration of 4 bikes (only one getting points) for a total of $130.00.
2) Once a contestant enters a bike in a class that is the class the bike will have to stay in. A contestant my not pull a bike from a class and change to another class after he or she has signed up because he or she feels it would benefit them in another class to win a trophy. CLASS SHOPPING will not be accepted. Please make sure you are in the right class before you sign up your bike.
3) If the promoter uses marked class show areas, then once a contestant signs up, he or she may put their show bike(s) in the marked class area. The contestant must put the bike in the marked class area and once they have set up, they must leave the area so others may set up their show bikes. We ask that the contestants stay clear of the marked class areas so there are no mishaps like knocking bikes over or bumping into others show bikes, please respect other contestants. The only persons allowed in the show areas are the judges. We want to keep the show area free from all disasters. At no time are children allowed in the marked class areas where the show bikes are.
4) Do not bother the judges while they are judging the bikes. Please allow the judges to do their jobs. They have a hard-enough job to do with so many bikes to judge over. If the judges have a question about your show bike(s), they will approach you with any questions.
5) Judges will thoroughly go through each bike in the class they are judging, this takes time, please do not bother the judges with a question until they are through with the judging of the class.
6) If you have any grievances with how your bike was judged please see the head judge for any further questions. All judges will be available after the show to answer any of questions regarding how your bike was scored. Contestants will be allowed to look at their scores for their bike and their bike only in the class they were in. At no time may a contestant look over others scores.
7) This is a family atmosphere, there are many children and young adults at these events, please refrain from the use of recreational Drugs and Alcohol at these events. While some recreational drugs are legal, we ask you to refrain from use while attending the events. We would like this to be a family atmosphere and a drug free zone. Anyone caught violating these rules will be asked to leave the event at the discretion of any official.
8) Please refrain from letting your children in and around the show bike areas, please make sure the children are not touching others bikes. Please watch your children at all times. Contestants work very hard on their show bikes and we would not want any mishaps to happen on any of the show bikes from unattended children.
9) We ask that you please refrain from vulgar language around the children while at these events. This is a family atmosphere and there a lot of children at these events. Anyone using excessive vulgar language at these events will be asked to leave the show for the day.
10) Fighting is strictly prohibited at these events and will not be tolerated. If anyone is caught in an altercation, both parties involved in the altercation will be asked to leave the show immediately. Those that are involved in any altercation what so ever will be disqualified and suspended from any ABSApro Show for the period of (1) year. Those involved in a (1) year suspension will have to re-apply for any further competition in any ABSApro Shows with the Board of Directors. It is at the discretion of the Board of Directors to re-admit any contestant after a (1) year suspension for fighting.
11) When coming to the ABSApro Show please park in the designated parking areas for all the shows. Parking is sometimes limited in and around the show sites and parking in an area that is not designated for the show might upset the neighboring businesses and may put future events in jeopardy. When loading and unloading show bikes at the show events, please load and unload in a timely matter, there will be many contestants showing up to the shows and we will need to keep the loading and unloading zones free of vehicles, please have consideration for all contestants when loading and unloading your bikes from your vehicles. DO NOT PARK YOU VEHICLES IN LOAD AND UNLOADING ZONES when coming to the events, unload or load your bikes as quickly as possible and move on, this will help with any further issues. If a show official asks you to move your unattended vehicle, please do it immediately.
12) Please clean up all areas used by your group at the shows, this will help ensure future shows to be held at the same venues. Please put all trash in the trash cans at the shows. Leaving a mess behind will almost ensure that we will not be invited back to the same venue.

Judging criteria for the Bike Show.

Are the bars straight?
Is the writing on the tires lined up?
Are the Chain ring Bolts all the same?
Do the pedals match?
Are the hubs both facing the right way?
Are the valve stems straight?
CLEANLINESS: Look at the bike and see if the individual has taken extra effort to clean the bike thoroughly.
Is the Bike clean?
Is there dirt on the tires?
Finger prints all over the chrome frame?
Are the rims dirty?
Has everything been cleaned and polished nicely?
Is there grease all over the headset, bottom bracket, chain?
ERA CORRECT: Look to see if the parts from the individual’s bike are within three years of the frame and forks? Are the parts on the bike the right parts used for that bike? Keep in mind that not all bikes have the exact year parts on them; sometimes it is hard to find the exact year parts.
Do the parts match the year or close to the bike frame and fork?
Are the parts within three years?
Are there a lot of aftermarket parts on this bike?
COLOR MATCH: In the late 70’s and early 80s the anodizing of parts was never the same. Sometimes it was hard to find parts that were close in anodizing. Some individuals have taken the parts and had them anodized at the same time so they all match.
Do the colors match throughout the bike?
Does the individual’s bike have a color scheme to it?
Are the colors way off from what you would normally see? This could be bad and good if the individual has done a custom job on the bike.
WORKING CONDITION: Sometimes the individual will put together a bike and not align, straighten certain parts of the bike. Ask yourself if this bike could be ridden with no problems as it sits.

Is there enough air in the tires to ride this bike?
Are the brakes in good working condition?
Do the brakes pull even on both sides?
Does the free wheel spin well?
These are just a few questions to ask yourself as you are judging the bike. Look at each bike carefully and make your judgment. The point system is from 1-10, ten being the highest and the best in each category. When scoring points for the bikes, you can use quarter points as well like 7.25, 7.50, and 7.75. This will break down the point system and make the final judgment easier to tally the winners of the classes. Most bikes at the show are going to be high scoring bikes; this is why you are scoring from 1-10-point scale with quarter points. If you have any questions regarding the bike build, ask a fellow judge. Do not be afraid to check the bike thoroughly for anything questionable. Once you are done with your group of bikes that you are judging, Take the folder to Mark Darcy or Dino Bartoli and they will tally the points together. All Judges will announce the winner as well as the second and third place for their class. All judgments are final.
In the event of a tie, the head judge will be the deciding factor in the tie breaker. He will look at the bikes that are in a tie and judge which is the better bike. The looser of the tie breaker will then fall into the next position, Example, two bikes are tied for first, the winner will stay in first and the bike that lost the tie breaker will fall to second, the second-place bike will then fall to third and so on.
The judges will look for the best bike in each class and will determine the winners by bike quality. Other parts the judges look at include, matching hubs, wheels, tires, brakes, brake cables. Some people put in the extra effort to polish the little parts on the bike such as the seat guts, brake springs nuts and bolts, cable ends, brake ferrals, and spokes. Some individuals paint the little parts that are stamped in the aluminum and steel parts, sprockets, brake levers, brakes, stamping on the frames.
